TIGERS (YEAR 2)
Class Teacher: Mr Tyson
Learning Assistants: Mrs Felton
Please see below for some of the routines and expectations we encourage in class. We would appreciate your support in promoting these and hope that you find this information helpful. We very much look forward to working in partnership with you this year!
The School Day:
8.55am: Children arrive at school. There will be a member of staff on both KS1 and KS2 gates from 8.45am. Children will walk independently across the playground to their class. If you arrive late (ie after 8.55am), please take your child to school via the office. Any arrivals after this time will be marked ‘late’.
10.30am: Morning break
1pm: Afternoon lessons start
2.25pm: Afternoon break
3.15pm: Home time! At the end of the school day we ask parents to wait in the school playground, where children will be handed over to you. Always let us know if your child is to be collected from school by someone other than yourself.
Children are provided with a range of appropriate reading material to reinforce their phonic awareness and decoding skills. We also focus on discussion and developing comprehension skills. Children will be invited to take home a wide range of books for sharing at home. We ask that you read with/to your child daily.
Please follow this link to another part of the school website with details of homework for all classes. Homework is designed to enable parents to share in their child’s learning. As well as reading, children will also be given spellings, Word Challenge, maths and handwriting.
It is essential that children have their PE kit in school every day. They require navy blue shorts and a white t-shirt with pumps for indoor activities and trainers for outdoor PE. In cold weather children will require navy tracksuit bottoms and a sweatshirt. PE kits will be sent home at the end of each half term. We ask that all possessions are clearly named. Jewellery must not be worn (this includes ear-rings); therefore children must be able to remove them independently. Long hair must be tied back.
Break time snacks
Children may bring in a mid-morning snack though we discourage sweets, chocolate or crisps. Snacks must be kept separate from their lunch boxes as it isn’t convenient for children to access their lunch boxes at break times. No snacks are to be shared with other children as there are a number of children with specific food allergies. No NUTS please!
All children need to have a water bottle with them – no glass please. School water bottles are available from the school office.
